ABOUT US

Kakatiya University is located in the historical City of Warangal in northern Telangana State. The University has been named after the great Kakatiya Dynasty which ruled this region with Warangal as capital during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. The term “Kakatiya” strikes an emotional chord in the hearts of the Telugu people. Kakatiya University was established on 19th August, 1976 to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Telangana Region for higher education. The founding of the University was in fact a historic event in the sense that heralded a new era in the realms of higher education of this region. The erstwhile Post-Graduate Centre of Osmania University was upgraded and named as Kakatiya University. The development of the University over the years has been gradual but impressive. The University was initially accredited with B+ grade by the NAAC in 2002 and reaccredited with 'A' grade in 2008 and in 2017 also. The University situated in a sprawling area of about 650 acres, has now 24 departments in four colleges on the campus with a network of ten constituent colleges and 471 affiliated colleges.

The Department of Commerce and Business Management started in 1968 in the erstwhile PG Centre, it now offers MBA, M.Com, M.Phil and Ph.D. programmes. As a result of sustained research efforts of the staff and research scholars, the Department could develop specialization in the areas of Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Organizational Behaviour, Banking, Co-operation, Entrepreneurship Development and Rural Marketing. The Faculty has completed 9 major research projects and 32 minor research projects. They have extensively participated and presented 283 papers in national and international seminars and symposia and published 425 papers in national and international journals. About 183 books have been authored/co-authored or contributed to by the faculty. Three teachers were honoured with the Best Teacher Award by the A.P. State Government. So far 200 Research Scholars have obtained Ph.D. degree from the Department and about 150 scholars are pursuing their research. It organized the All India Accounting Conference in 1980 and the All India Commerce Conference in 1992. The Department is now upgraded into University College of Commerce and Business Management offering Post-Graduate and Research Programs both in Commerce and Business Management. It has successfully conducted the State Level Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) in 2005, 2006, 2012, 2013, 2014 and TS ICET - 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 , 2020 , 2021 and 2022
